Things To Watch

I'm really excited for this boys field because you have a couple of teams and runners that very early were dead set on going to Garmin and have not partaken in any other post season events since state starting with the top of the list. Cleveland's Owen Clemons may not be done making history just yet. The freshman opened his season with a 15:09 at the Southern Showcase stumbling across the finish, ran 15:01 at Saturday Light Fever and then became the first freshman to win the AAA State Title earlier this month. Since he has not run anything and I for one am very excited to see if he can make a run at Keegan Smith's 14:53 which is the national freshman record. 

The boys team I have my eye on is Christian Brothers. The runner up finisher from the Division II Class AA state championship made the decision very early Garmin was in their postseason plans and like Clemons, have no dabbled in any other post season events since. At Southern Showcase earlier this year the team did this. 

They will have an opportunity to face some out of division foes in Beech and Brentwood who have both had active Novembers. I already know they're excited about next year based on their state results but this might propel them to even high 2023 expectations. 

Joining them from the 901 will be a conglomeration of runners who have all unofficially joined forces to represent Memphis. Here's the crew making the trip to Huntsville:
