Cheeseman Returns to San Diego

Webb School of Bell Buckle's Abby Faith Cheeseman placed 7th in the Champs South Regional Championship to punch her second ticket in as many years to the national race in San Diego. As you can see from the race video above, she went out aggressively leading the chase pack for the first half or so. Her finishing time of 17:18 was just five seconds slower than her time here last year when she finished 4th and I think she paid for it towards the end of the race. She mentions that in her interview below.

The second Tennessean to cross the finish line was Harpeth Hall's Annamaria Bacchetta. Bacchetta finished 27th crossing in 18:28. It was a 17 second PR for the sophomore and a year of year improvement of 47 seconds from this race last season. Here's the rest of the finishers from the championship race.

Obviously there are some high caliber names missing that registered for this meet but unfortunately illness befell Claire Stegall (who will now be running Garmin instead) and injury befell Bella Guillamondegui. Hope it's not serious.
