Runner To Watch: Luis Gomez
Luis Gomez is a Junior at Memphis East. Though he currently ranks outside the top fifty in the individual rankings, this feature is less about him, and more about the team as a whole. Last year, the Mustangs finished 18th over all at state with Gomez leading the way. They returned six of seven heading in to 2022 and at the time of this recording, they were ranked 5th in the classification. They've slipped to 8th since then after some teams ran their regionals but that fluctuation is a testament to how evenly matched some of the teams ranked 3rd through 10th are. Gomez has high hopes for himself and the Mustangs next week and they may be make more people pay attention to Memphis this year and next.
