What Stands Out
The top three here really point to the strength of team continuity. All three returned at least six of seven runners from last year's squads and in the case of Brentwood they even added more depth in the form of freshmen Lauren Banovac and Lia Banovac. The Bruins and the Buccaneers shouldn't turn any heads when you see them ranked this high but Dobyns Bennett might considering they didn't even qualify as a team for state last season. The Indians narrowly missed the 3rd qualifying spot in Region 1 by two points. David Crockett, Science Hill, and Daniel Boone represented the upper East Tennessee region instead. The Tribe currently has a decent lead on all of those region opponents but it should still be a tight race to qualify this year.
