2022 AAU Junior Olympic Games: Tennessee Highlights

D-Elite, Trial By Fire

While we weren't able to see any of the elite male sprinters race each other this season, the AAU JO's did treat us to a head to head match up of the defending Class A and AA state champions in the short sprints. Danielle Dunning and Avia Lane both won a short sprint event last may and found themselves on the starting line of the Age 15-16 Final this weekend.

Dunning (24.51) would finish 4th with Lane (24.66) finishing 6th. Lane, below, would also finish 4th in the 100m dash for her age group.

Not counting relays, which I know both have been a part of, Dunning has logged 36 documented races since January with Lane registering 43! I'm sure they're both looking forward to some time off. With Alima Kassim, Erica Douglas, and Brenay Williams also in action in Charlotte, nearly the entire catalog of the best short sprinters in the state were on display this weekend. There is a lot to look forward to with this bunch.
