When you try to rank the top ten teams in Tennessee, there are a lot of things you have to consider.
Head-to-head battles. Average time. One through five split. Fastest runner. Your fifth runner's personal best.
This is an inexact science when teams run on different courses of different speeds in different parts of the Southeast.
So bear with us.
But we gave it our best shot.
Bartlett High School stays in the No. 1 spot of our top ten. They were the best Tennessee team at Jesse Owens over the weekend, led by a fifth place finish by senior Landen McNair.
Franklin High School was without its top runner Hudson Hurst. He hasn't raced since The Southern Showcase, when he ran a 15:43 personal best. But the Admirals still finished fifth, just four points behind No. 4 Siegel High School
With Hurst in the lineup, Franklin would have challenged Bartlett for their third place finish.
Hardin Valley Academy has not raced a team from the Nashville or Memphis...
