NEWS: Music City Distance Carnival Has an Official Date

18th Annual MUSIC CITY DISTANCE CARNIVAL SLATED FOR AUGUST 15thin NASHVILLE

[NASHVILLE, TN, 6/15/2020] - Nashville Track Club will be hosting the 18th annual Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, August 15th. This distance-focused Track & Field meet has been a staple for professional and elite high school middle distance runners across the country for over a decade and has steadily grown in stature.

M.C.D.C, as it has become known to many track fans, has yielded 29 sub-4 minute miles in its history, numerous Tennessee Soil Records and Masters World Records, and dozens of Olympic Trials qualifying performances, amid an electric, spectator-friendly, concert-like, atmosphere.

With such a lack of professional sports currently, this is an exciting addition to the domestic sporting calendar and will follow on the heels of Nashville's professional soccer team returning to action.

This year there will be a number of strict protocols in place with regard to Covid-19, including, but not limited to, all participating athletes and meet officials having to have a negative Covid-19 test the week of the race, and limitations on the number of runners in each race.

The meet will be sanctioned by USA Track & Field and several Olympic medalists, defending U.S Champions and U.S record holders are expected to be among world class fields in pro races over 800m, 1500m, 1 Mile, 3000m and 5000m.

The meet will also be spectator-free, and because of this, the exact location of the event is not being publicized in advance, but a facility has been secured. The event, which takes place in the evening, will be streamed live on a platform still to be confirmed.
