Our favorite Northeast Tennessee cross country duo is BACK.
And they were back with a couple more outstanding performances too.
Jenna Hutchins picked up a big win at the Cherokee Classic on a fast course in Knoxville. The newly-minted state-record holder for Tennessee in the 1600 set a new course record of 17:23.
You can hear her comments after the race at the top of the page.
Sasha Neglia had an equally impressive day in Virginia at the Knights Crossing XC Invitational.
She was second place in a really talented field, only behind Kelsey Harrington. Neglia crossed the line in an impressive 17:34.
Dobyns Bennett also won the team battle at Knights Crossing, scoring 60 points with a 19:09 average. That will certainly put them in contention for a podium finish at the Div. 1 Large Schools state championship on the first Saturday in November. Science Hill will be in the mix there as well.
So far, so good for two local stars in Kingsport and Johnson City.
