Athletes to Watch

Mikele Vickers - Lipscomb Academy - Comes in as the top seed in Division II AA Long Jump, Triple Jump, and 100m Open as well as the anchor for the 4x100m Relay. Someone in one of those events will have to have a really good day or she will likely walk away with 4 gold medals.

John Curry - MBA - If Montgomery Bell is going to have any shot at dethroning BA for the Division II AA Team Championship John Curry is going to need to run to defend his seeding and then some. Comes in as the top seed in both hurdles and the third seed in the Triple Jump. As he did at Nashville City Championships, he is likely a part of the 4x200m Relay team which also will start in lane 4... an event that could mean +6 points over BA and +9 over Christian Brothers in the standings.

Demick Starling - East Nashville - Starling burst onto the rankings with an impressive 48.85 quarter mile at Nashville City Championships but will need a repeat performance if he wants to walk away with gold on Friday in Division I Small. Currently ranked 3rd but he will be attempting the sprint triple sitting in the top 5 of all 3 events. On top of that he'll compete in High Jump earlier in the day where he qualified with a jump of 5'10" but has previously cleared 6'6".

Avery McMullen - Centennial - Avery has already claimed gold in the Division I Large Pentathlon and was on track to compete for 3 more this Thursday but at the Section 3 meet fell after hitting the second to last hurdle. She'll be busy early as she looks to win 2 more in the High and Long Jumps and will look to cap of the night while also running a leg in the 4x400m Relay.

Jett Kinder - Brentwood - Like Avery, he has also claimed gold in the Division I Large multi-events and will compete in ALL vertical and horizontal jumps on Thursday morning. He isn't the "favorite" in any of the events but he is the only vaulter in the state over 15' this year and has been the most consistent performer in the others all year.

Micaleous Elder - Blackman - The phantom 25'10" Long Jump that hit our rankings earlier in the year turned out to be fiction but his talent is very much real. Although he will not step onto the runway after scratching all his jumps at subsectionals, he will step onto the track 3 times on Thursday in good position to win two of them. He's seeded 3rd in the 100m and will line up in lane 4 for both the 4x100m Relay and 200m open.
