With three of the regional meets completed and in the books and the last two regions in the near future, This year is shaping up to be a great championship. The 2007 KTC/Tennessee Runner Middle school State Championships is year number two and the first year for regional qualifiers. This new format of regional meets brings the level of competition up a few notches. The format is top 5 teams and top 25 individuals (not on one of the top 5 teams) move on from the regional meets to the state championship.
The first regional to be contested was the Chattanooga area regional (Chattanooga Cross Country Festival). The Chattanooga Festival was a first year meet with large high school numbers and not so many middle school teams. The next few years should show tremendous growth in this meet for high school and especially middle school teams.

The second meet in the books is the Knoxville Regional (KTC Elementary / Middle School XC Championships). With many years of experience and a great following the KTC Elementary / Middle School XC Championships was a huge meet with some awesome racing. This regional is also contested on the state course at Victor Ashe Park. in Knoxville.

The West Regional meet (Memphis) was a great meet for the fans and for the competitors. The Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic is an evening race that finishes in a stadium full of cheering fans. This meet has high school, college, and middle school races, and being an evening race it should be a must on everyones list of races to run.

The next two regional meets are Trail Blazer in Gray (NE, TN) and then the MTCCA Middle School Championships in Lafayette, TN (middle/Nashville). The trail blazer is a well established meet in north east tennessee. The MTCCA Middle School Championships has been the middle TN area’s championships for several years now.
