Houston Classic Meet Recap
Friday evening was a good night for track and field on the all-weather track behind Houston High School. With schools from St. Louis, Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee, the crowd was large to say the least. With heat after heat of sprint prelims and several flights in the field events, hundreds of athletes fought their way for the privilege of getting to run their race again on Saturday or claim a title on this cool Friday evening.
Before Saturday started though, there were a couple of events Friday night that are worth talking about. The girls Distance Medley Relay stands out as probably one of the best races Friday... and probably overall in my opinion. This Houston HS team obviously came into the meet with a focus on running scary fast! Emma Reed started out the 1200 with what I might call a 1200 sprint!
