Mobley sets school record of 1:50.85 in 800 meter run

Nashville, TN - Tennessee Running Magazine's second of three twilight track meets served up fast times once again for the Bryan College Track & Field athletes. Running under the lights on Vanderbilt's track, four Lions posted personal bests for the second consecutive week.

Zach Buffington (Ooltewah, TN - Fr) finished second in the open 1500 meter run with a new best of 4:03.85.

Daniel Goetz (Chattanooga, TN - Fr) won the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase in a school record time of 9:23.35, when he edged Virginia Tech's Rider Clauss by .19.

Zach Mobley (Ooltewah, TN - Fr), competing unattached, and Josh Bradley (Ringgold, GA) took 2nd and 4th in the men's AMC Invitational 800 meter run. Mobley's 1:50.85 was second to New York Athletic Club's Timothy Dunne's 1:50.83. Bradley was 1.5 seconds back in a new best of 1:52.35.

"Another solid effort from these four athletes. Mobley and Bradley are two of the most inexperienced track athletes I've been around, but they make up for it with their racing instincts and competitiveness. I'm not sure Mobley understands who he raced to the line, but Dunne is a 1:47 800 meter athlete who finished 4th at the 2006 US Indoor Champs. Goetz looked great early, but slowed the last kilometer of the steeple. However, he was able to catch Clauss and beat him to the line over the last 120 meters. Goetz was disappointed with the time, but I was encouraged how he held it together when things weren't at their best, plus Clauss has a 9:05 Pb and was 8th at the ACC Championships this spring. Buffington lowered his best again and has gained some confidence over the last few weeks," said head coach Rodney Stoker.

Josh Bradley and Daniel Goetz will compete May 24-26 at the NAIA Outdoor National Championship held in Fresno, California.
