Bryan College Track & Field Races Well at Vanderbilt

Nashville, TN - Bryan College track and field found success at Vanderbilt University's track this weekend, where it competed in Tennessee Running's Twilight Track Meet # 1. Five athletes toed the line and came away with one victory and three new personal records.

"We love Vandy's facility. The mondo surface is fast and running late and under the lights is why we come here multiple times during the year. Milner does a great job putting on the meet and we are looking forward to being here next weekend as well," said head coach Rodney Stoker.

Freshmen athletes Zach Mobley (Ooltewah, TN) and Josh Bradley (Ringgold, GA) started off the day with a 1-2 finish in the men's 800. Mobley, running unattached, led wire to wire in 1:52.85, with Bradley on his coattails at 1:53.77. Sophomore Guillermo Loaiza (Cartago, Costa Rica) set a personal best in the men's 5k with his second place performance of 16:44.53. Freshmen Zach Buffington (Ooltewah, TN) took second in the first section of the men's 1500 in 4:04.77, also a new best. Redshirt Freshmen Daniel Goetz (Chattanooga, TN) ended the evening with his new school record and fourth place finish in the men's 1500 meter run, with a time of 3:54.71.

"Mobley and Bradley took it from the gun like we wanted. They are learning to be aggressive and should lead to some faster times soon enough. Buffington was very impressive with his new personal best. It's amazing how far he has come since last spring. Guillermo finally had a good race and is starting to enjoy the oval a little more. Goetz ran well and hit the auto qualifier for the national champs. He'll jump in the steeple next week and then we'll make a decision on what to run at nationals in Fresno,"

The Lions will compete in the Twilight Track Meet # 2 this weekend held once again at Vanderbilt.
