Marchant Earns Second SoCon Indoor Track Athlete of the Week Honor

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Chattanooga distance runner Lanni Marchant has another award to add to her trophy case. The London, Ontario senior was named the Southern Conference Female Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Marchant finished fourth in the 5,000-meter race at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 16:39.92. She leads the SoCon rankings by over a minute in the 5,000-meters and is also the conference leader in the women's 3,000-meters with a time of 9:46.24.

This is Marchant's second Athlete of the Week honor this season. She also won the award on Jan. 23 for her top time at the University of Kentucky's McCravey Invitational.

Marchant and the rest of the Chattanooga squad will prepare for the Southern Conference Indoor Championships to be held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 17-18 in Clemson, S.C.
