Shelby Country CC Championships – Meet Review
Looking at the weather radar for the area, everyone knew the rain was going to be on us by the 4:00pm start time for the Shelby County CC meet. How much rain was the only question? With this meet scheduled a week before the Region CC meets and with D2–AA school without a region meet, the timing was right to see some great talent. Too much rain and that might hold back some athletes from running their best. The rain however couldn’t dishearten that fact that a majority of the top athletes in the area came to compete. Minus a couple that ran the day before in the Memphis City championships, the lineup at the start of the race was impressive. You name the cross country athlete and they were there, boys and girls. As the start of the race approached, I don’t remember hearing any one of them saying anything negative about the rain. Their game faces were on and every single one of them were ready to race.
