Date: Friday, April 28, 2023

Location: Kermit Tipton Stadium (Science Hill HS)

Stadium Address: 802 Liberty Bell Blvd, Johnson City, TN 37604

Heat Sheets (all entries listed, including alternates)

Beginning in 1976, Kingsport track enthusiast Rick Earnest and local coaches had a dream.

They approached Times News Executive Sports Editor Ron Bliss with the idea of an "all-star" track meet putting the best talent from the region on display.

Only the top nine entries (including ties in field events) in each event will be eligible to compete. Accepted entries will be based on season bests, not personal bests.

Entries will be done online through Milesplit and each school is allowed THREE entries per individual event and one relay team.

Teams that are eligible are on an invitational basis ONLY.

There will be only one section/flight of every event. Field event athletes will get four attempts. There will be live results available at www.trojantiming.com

If you have to make a change for one of your relay legs that you entered through Milesplit, please notify the timer and fill out a new relay card.

TIMES MUST BE F.A.T. VERIFIED. NO EXCEPTIONS!

The meet this year will be sanctioned for Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina, but more can be added if necessary. There will be no entry fee.

Coach and Athlete Instructions

WHO CAN COME?

In Tennessee, all public and private high schools (Grades 9-12) in the following counties are eligible automatically: Carter, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington.

In Virginia, all public and private high schools (Grades 9-12) in the following counties are automatically eligible: Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Dickenson, Grayson, Lee, Pulaski, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise and Wythe.

ALL OTHER SCHOOLS WISHING TO PARTICIPATE MUST BE ACCEPTED BY THE MEET DIRECTOR!

Please email Meet Director Tanner Cook (tcook@johnsoncitypress.com) for requests.

School administration asks that teams NOT set up tents on the home side of the bleachers. Instead, teams may set up anywhere else along the outside of the fence on the grounds of the facility.

Unless you have permission from meet management, are an athlete getting ready to compete or a coach, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE INFIELD.

Meet management will post an accepted entries list to Milesplit along with five alternates per event shortly after the entry window closes. The descending order list will be emailed beforehand to each coach with at least one participating athlete.

There are entry standards. The table below shows the minimum marks.

These standards are calculated based on the average of the last (if fewer than nine participants in the event) or ninth-place (if nine or more participants in the event) finisher over the last 10 editions of the meet.

If your athletes have a mark better than the standards, they will have a good chance at getting in. Just because your athlete meets a standard, however, does not guarantee entry into the meet.

If your athletes are a LONG way off the standard, then there is no need to enter them. These sorts of entries will be automatically rejected by the system.

**Coaches, if one of your athletes is an alternate, bring them to the meet. There is a chance that one of the top nine entries will scratch and your athlete will have the opportunity to compete. We want to have as many full sections/flights as possible.**

**Local coaches: Meet Management will assign your coaching staff to a random field event. We will work in shifts. One coaching staff will do the girls portion and then another staff will do the boys. Meet Management will email assignments the week of the meet. This was a problem last year with not enough help in the field events. Meet management will assign three coaching staffs to exchange zones for the 4x100, 4x200 along with the 4x400 and 4x800 at the break line. The school that has the 4x800 break line will also have the 4x400.**

Medals will be given to the top three in every event.

Plaques will be given to the "Most Outstanding" performer on the boys and girls side for both field and running events.

A special ceremony will be held before the start of the hurdles to recognize the field events performers and at the end of the meet to recognize the running events athletes.

We ask that athletes that are in consideration for the award stick around until the end for photo opportunities with the presenters. The Meet Director will notify a coach if one of your athletes is in consideration.

Office hours are usually 9 a.m. to 3 p.m in the spring.

PARKING FOR COACHES AND ATHLETES

Buses will park in the large parking lot off of Liberty Bell Blvd (IN YELLOW OF PICTURE BELOW). This parking lot is accessible when you turn left at the skate park. Coaches and athletes will enter through the gate closest to the school on the visitors side. PLEASE DO NOT COME IN THE BACK GATES ON THE FREEDOM HALL SIDE! PLEASE USE THE WALKING PATH IN PURPLE TO GET INTO THE STADIUM AS THERE IS PARKING ALONG THE ROAD!

PARKING FOR SPECTATORS

Spectators will enter through the gates on the home side of the bleachers. SPECTATORS, PLEASE PARK AT THE PARKING LOTS IN BLUE IN PICTURE BELOW! The parking lot at the top of Liberty Bell Blvd. is a public parking lot and there is plenty of parking at Freedom Hall. We are trying to mitigate spectators and athletes coming through the same gates so that there is little hold up trying to get into the venue. PLEASE USE THE WALKWAYS IN RED IN THE PICTURE BELOW!

ADMISSION TO THE MEET IS $7.00
