Ooltewah, TN - Senior Zach Buffington signed papers to continue his running career at Bryan College beginning in the fall of 2006. Buffington has been a standout distance runner for the Owls this spring, as well as helping lead the cross country back to the state meet. He recently finished third at the Optimist City Championships in the 3200 meter run and won his section of the 1600 meter run at the Vol Classic.
"Zach is a quality kid and comes from a terrific family. It is evident being around him that he has a strong desire to succeed and that is a great trait to have in our sport. Zach has quite a different background compared to a lot of our athletes, as he played baseball the last three years at Ooltewah. I believe it shows that he has some talented legs and Coach Hamrick and Barker deserve a lot of credit for giving him an opportunity to compete. I look forward to helping Zach reach his goals while here at Bryan." Stated Coach Rodney Stoker.
Buffington becomes the third local athlete this spring, along with LFO's Josh Bradley and Walker Valley's Caleb Morgan, to sign with Bryan's growing cross country and track teams.
