Collie, Lease lead Milligan at Brevard Invitational

The Milligan College men's and women's track and field teams picked up 11 top five finishes at the Brevard Invitational Wednesday afternoon in Brevard, N.C.

Leading the way for the Lady Buffs was senior All-American Megan Lease with a win in the women's 10,000 meter run. Sophomore Brittany Bales finished second in the 400 meters, while sophomores Lindsey Davis and Kristen Bartlett also earned second place finishes in the 800 meters and 200 meters, respectively. All three women set new lifetime bests in their events.

Other top five performances on the women's side included third place finishes by Marta Zimon (Mile), Ashley Pearce (400m) and Erika Fox (800m).Fox's time was also a personal best.

On the men's side, Jair Collie easily won the 800 meters, while freshmen Will Frye (Mile) and Robert Newlin (Shot Put) both finished fifth in their events.

Both squads are in action this Friday and Saturday at the University of Tennessee's Sea Ray Relays. Senior All-American Chris Wright will run the men's 10,000 meter run Friday night, while sophomore Kortney Goulds will line up in the women's 1500 meters and freshman Jacklyn Talbert will run the women's 800 meters. On Saturday, Milligan's women will line up against Wake Forest, Penn State, Louisville, and Vanderbilt in their heat of the 4 x 800 meter relay.
