What do you think about when someone says something is 40 years old?  Over the hill?  Past their prime?  Old?  Ok, I’m probably going over a bit on that (40 is young to me!).  The Bonner Relays at Harding Academy in Memphis kind of turned 40 this year.  In 1973, Harding Academy started these relays.  Well, actually, they weren’t all relays and it wasn’t called Bonner Relays.  That name came later to honor one of Harding’s most revered volunteer coaches, Dee Eugene Bonner.  But this Saturday (March 24), did mark the 38th running of the Harding Academy meet (the event wasn’t held in 2000 and 2001 because of work on the track), so I’m stretching and saying they turned forty this year.  But there aren’t very many meets that can say they’ve been around for nearly that long a time.  And this meet is a wonderfully laid back meet with a huge group of parents, coaches, and athletes helping to make the meet run smooth and on time for everyone.
