MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (February 22, 2006) --- Atlee High School (Mechanicsville, Va.) senior Rebecca McDowell recently announced she'll run for the Lady Buffs of Milligan College next Fall.
McDowell finished 36th at the 2005 Virginia AAA State Cross Country Championships with a 5k time of 19:34, and also has impressive credentials on the track with personal bests of 5:28 for the mile and 11:30 in the two mile.
During the 2005 outdoor season, she won the Capital District title and recorded her two mile best at the Central Region meet, while continuing on to make the final at the Virginia State Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
McDowell, the daughter of Sandra and Raymond McDowell, also excels in the classroom, currently ranking fourth in her class of 271.
"Rebecca's had a very successful high school career and we're excited about what she'll bring to our women's program on and off the field of play," said Milligan head coach Chris Layne.
