Kaylor Murray wins 11-12 girls at FootLocker south

This past weekend at the Footlocker South, Kaylor Murray won her age group(11 and 12) race with a time of 11:02. The race had 4 false starts. She was hoping to get the record of 10:52, held by Virginia's Aurora Scott (3rd place finisher in the seeded race).

Since the boys and girls ran together, Kaylor and two of the boys were side by side with less than 800m left in the race Kaylor finished close behind the top three boys. This is her second time winning the Footlocker in back to back years, in two different age groups. She holds the course record for the 10 and under age group.

Kaylor this year, as a sixth grader, and she is heading into the AAU and USATF nationals with one of the top times posted. She won both the AAU and USATF XC nationals last year as a Bantam. She's going for it this year in a different age group (Midget-11/12). AAU nationals is this weekend and USATF next weekend.

Kaylor is coached by Andrew Reynolds with the Nashville Illusions Track Club and the Coach Harper from Brentwood Academy.

We wish her luck, she has her work cut out this year.
