Natalie Whitlock, Kingsport, stretches out her lead en route to overall victory.

A record crowd of about 160 participants took off in frosty 30 degree temperatures from the brand new YWCA facility in downtown Bristol, straddling the Tennessee and Virginia state lines. At 26 years, the Turkey Trot is one of the oldest continuous road races in the Tri-Cities area of Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

Natalie Whitlock from Kingsport took the lead short before mile 1, and never relinquished it, winning relatively easily in 21:57 in this all-women's race. For Whitlock, a former employee at the Y, it was her second victory in as many races - she also won the Flight of the Vampire 5k, in Brevard, NC on Oct 28.
