Congratulations on the accomplishments of your athletes during the 2011 Spring Outdoor Track Season. You are invited to participate in the 3rd Annual Steel Throwers Open on June 4th, 2011 sponsored by M-F Athletics, on the campus of the University of the South, Sewanee, TN. Our USATF sanctioned meet will feature all of the throws and jumping events.
There will be two High School Divisions: Freshmen/Sophomores, and Juniors/Seniors. We will also have an Open Division that will allow post High School athletes to compete including those in college and post collegians. This is an excellent opportunity for underclassmen to compete in a meet with other athletes of the same age/grade. We expect this will motivate and encourage younger athletes to pursue even greater achievements
We will contest the Male and Female Shot, Discus, Javelin, Hammer, Weight Throw, Long, Triple Jump, High Jump and, Pole Vault. Each athlete will be given three attempts in the trials. In addition to the top 9 athletes advancing to the finals, each competitor who achieves the Mile Split Elite Bronze standard during the trials will also advance to the finals.
This meet is an excellent opportunity to improve performances in preparation for the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, in Greensboro, NC and the USATF Youth Trials to be held in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Medals will be awarded to the top three in each event. Separate plaques will be awarded for the Top Male and Female High School Throwers and Jumpers. Each athlete who achieves the Mile Split Elite Silver standard will be presented with a certificate. .
Registration is currently open at https://tn.milesplit.com. Registration is $20.00 per athlete and each competitor will receive a meet T-shirt and a certificate to document their accomplishment.
