YOUTH ATHLETICS CROSS COUNTRY PROGRAM
In its 12th year, the Knoxville Track Club Youth Athletics Cross-Country Program is a six week program for boys and girls ages 8-18. In addition to local practices, we will be competing in a series of meets including the Footlocker South Regional and the National Cross Country Championships (USATF or AAU). The program is open to all boys and girls who are interested in learning the fundamentals of endurance training / competition, regardless of previous experience.
Practice:
First Practice Thursday, October 13th. Practices will be held at various times / locations through December 2rd with optional weekend runs available for those interested. This year there will be multiple practice sites as follows:
Oak Ridge High School – M-F – 4:00 PM – Oak Ridge HS Track
Victor Ashe Park – M -Th - 4:45 PM (Park Concession Area and Soccer Fields / Bradshaw Rd.)
Farragut Middle School – M,W,F– 4:30 PM (meet at Anchor Garden)
Maryville Middle School – M,W,F – 4:00 PM (Maryville MS Track)
Panther Creek Park / Morristown – T, W,TH – 4 PM (at Park Entrance)
South Doyle HS – M-TH (at track) time TBA
Note to High School Runners:
If you are interested in running AAU / Footlocker cross-country, you may join us after your high school season is over (Region or State). If you plan to run, however, you must register in advance or at a practice site by November 7th.
Competition:
Southeastern AAU Championships* November 19 Knoxville, TN
Foot Locker Southern Regional November 26 Charlotte, NC
AAU National Championships December 3 Rock Hill, SC
*Top finishers in each age group qualify to advance from Southeastern to National Championships.
Fees:
$45.00 made payable to Knoxville Track Club. This covers coaching and the cost of your AAU Card, required to practice and compete. Lodging / transportation for overnight trips and meet entry fees will be arranged by the Knoxville Track Club and will paid for by the athlete. KTC Team Uniform available for purchase at The Runners Market 865-588-1650 Note: Fee Waivers are available to any athlete unable to afford the program fee. Travel Costs are the responsibility of the participant. All requests for fee waivers must be made to Marty Sonnenfeldt 865-406-4128.
