1. Roll Call

2. Approved the Minutes of Last Meeting

3. Voted to give the state office staff permission to conduct the draw for the State Wrestling Tournament.  

4. Heard Update on the 2010 Regional Meetings

5. Heard Review of 2010 Fall Sports Tournaments

6. Heard Update of Regional Basketball Sites for 2010-2011

7. Reviewed List of Schools with Outstanding Fines and Membership Dues

8. Approved the Request from The Phoenix School for TSSAA Membership effective immediately.

The Phoenix School is located in Cumberland County and will be in Class A, District 4 in football, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball.  They would participate in 1A football with an enrollment of 140 students.  They would compete in District 4A-AA in cross country, dual wrestling, girls’ golf, golf, girls’ soccer, soccer, tennis, and track and field.  

9. Approved the following changes in classification for the 2011-12 and 2012-13 school years due to enrollment increase/decrease of 20% or more:

The following changes in classification will go into effect following the 2010-11 School Year:
Antioch High School (Antioch) - Moved from 6A to 5A in Football

B.T. Washington High School (Memphis) - Moved to Class A, District 16 (2A FB)

Cane Ridge High School (Nashville) - Moved from 5A to 6A in Football

Frayser High School (Memphis) - Will remain in Class AA, District 15 (4A FB)

Frederick Douglass High School (Memphis) - Moved to Class AA, District 15 (3A FB)

Grace Baptist Academy (Chattanooga) - Moved from 2A to 1A in Football

Grace Christian Academy (Knoxville) - Moved from 1A to 2A in Football

Ivy Academy (Soddy-Daisy) - Added to Class A, District 6; Class A-AA, District 7 (New Member School - Effective November 18, 2010)

Knoxville Christian School (Knoxville) - Added to Class A, District 3 (1A FB); Class A-AA, District 3 (New Member School and they are an Affiliate Member - Effective November 18, 2010)

Memphis North Side High School - Moved to Class A, District 16 (2A FB)

Mitchell High School (Memphis) - Moved to Class AA, District 16 (4A FB); Class A-AA, District 16

Nashville Diploma Plus (Nashville) - Removed from classification as they are no longer members of TSSAA

Ooltewah High School (Ooltewah) - Moved from 6A to 5A in Football

Raleigh-Egypt High School (Memphis) - Moved to Class AA, District 15 (4A FB); Class A-AA, District 16; Class A-AA Region 8 (Dual Wrestling)

Signal Mountain High School (Signal Mountain) - Moved to Class AA, District 7 (4A FB)

South Gibson County High School (Medina) - Moved to Class AA, District 13 (3A FB)

Summit High School (Spring Hill) - Added to Class AA, District 12 (4A FB); Class A-AA, District 11; Class A-AA Middle Region (Track); Region 4, District 8 (Bowling); Class A-AA, Region 7 (Dual Wrestling); Region 6 (Wrestling) (New Member School - Effective July 1, 2011)

The Phoenix School (Crossville) - Added to Class A, District 4; Class A-AA, District 4 (New Member School - Effective November 18, 2010)


Class AA, District 13 - The Board of Control voted to divide the district East/West for the purpose of football scheduling.

10. Heard Update of the Division I State Basketball Championships Bid Process

Chattanooga, Cookeville, and Murfreesboro have all submitted bids to host the 
Division I Basketball State Championships in 2012 and 2013:  

11. Heard Update on LRG Contract

The Board reviewed a list of schools that have decided to be in the program and receive royalties for merchandise sold by manufacturers that contain their school logo.  

12. Heard Update on Officials’ Fees Committee Meetings

13. Heard Update on the TSSAA Football Regulations Concerning Explosive Devices.

The TSSAA Football Regulations stated that no explosive devices shall be allowed in regular season or playoff games.  This was removed from the Football Regulations.    

14. Nashville Diploma Plus High School Withdraws TSSAA Membership

15. Voted to table Bradley Central High School’s Request That Expense Allotments Be Paid to Quarterfinal Teams in Basketball until the January meeting.

16. Approved the Request of Knoxville Christian School for TSSAA membership beginning with the 2011-12 school year.  Per Article I, Section I of the TSSAA Bylaws, they will be an affiliate member during their first year of membership and cannot participate in post-season tournament series during that season. They have an enrollment of 200 students (9-12) and request to be in Division I.

Knoxville Christian School will compete in Division I, Class A, District 3, in football, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball.  They will participate in 1A football.  They will compete in Class A-AA, District 3, in cross country, dual wrestling, golf, girls’ soccer, soccer, tennis, and track and field.

17. Heard Presentation from Knoxville Catholic High School Asking to consider that the Multiplier be Lowered During Next Classification Period.

18. Heard the Football Playoff Committee Update.  The committee selected to study the Football Playoff System will meet after the conclusion of the BlueCross Bowl games.  A survey will be sent to every school regarding numerous issues of concern to gather feedback before the football playoff committee will next meet.

19. Approved the Request of Ivy Academy Requests for TSSAA membership effective immediately.  Ivy Academy is a charter school located in Chattanooga.  They plan to seek permission to form a cooperative program with Red Bank High School in football, basketball, baseball, soccer, wrestling, track and field, and tennis.
