Sadie Engelhardt Eyes Olympic Trials In 1,500m At Music City


* Sadie Engelhardt won her second 1600m title in as many years at the CIF State Track and Field Championships winning this year's race with a meet record 4:32.06.

In Mid-March, California's Sadie Engelhardt won the 1,500m run in a Pro field at The TEN with a U.S. No. 1 time for the distance at 4:09.70.

In the month's since, she has set the national high school outdoor mile record at 4:31.72 at Mt. SAC, anchored her Ventura team to a national outdoor DMR record at 11:21.85 and now sits on top of the U.S. Rankings for all distances from 800 meters to one mile.

On Saturday, a week departed from the CIF State Championships where she set a California State Meet Record in the 1,600m with a 4:32.06, she'll return to the "metric mile" at the Music City Track Carnival with her eyes set on the US Olympic Trials standard of sub-4:06.

Sadie will be toeing the line at @mtsu on June 1, with over a dozen seasoned pros, aiming to clock under 4:06.00 and stamp her ticket to the Olympic Trials in Eugene three weeks later.

The competitions this year will return to Middle Tennessee State University for the first time since 2016.

Last week, the facility hosted the TSSAA State Track and Field Championships.

The NC State commit Engelhardt is scheduled to race at 6:20 CST on Saturday. 

It's setting up to be a pretty exciting event in Middle Tennessee yet again.
