By A Half Inch

The only female vaulter in Tennessee history to clear thirteen feet prior to 2023 was Anderson County's Brittany Bishop who did so indoors and out. Her highest mark in the winter was 13-0.25 and her highest mark out was 13-3.5. Both were the recognized records for the vaulters across the state until February 19th, 2023 when, at the Tennessee State HS Indoor Championships, St. Agnes Academy's Caroline Weems not only became the second vaulter in history to clear that mark, but surpassed Bishop's record by half an inch raising the indoor state record to 13-0.75.

A little less than two month later, Weems would become the second vaulter outdoors to also clear thirteen feet. The first was at a low key meet at Bartlett high school on a Tuesday when she cleared 13-1 and would come back four days later and clear 13-0 at the Houston Track Classic. She would go on to defend her Division II Class AA state title in May. She now competes for the University of Tennessee.
