Another Encore For The Top Four?
As freshmen, no other state had as many runners in the National Top 20 for the Class of 2025 as Tennessee did. Keegan Smith led the way with a 14:53, Jack Bowen ranked 4th with a 15:22, and Cade Crum and Callahan Fielder ran 15:41 and 15:43 respectively to rank 18th and 20th. While their ranks may have slipped a little nationally, I'd hardly call their sophomore seasons a slump. Smith ran the fastest time ever at Sanders Ferry Park by a Tennessean, Fielder dropped 30 seconds off his time from 2021, Bowen claimed a runner-up finish in Division II Class AA, and Crum a 3rd place finish in Division I Class AAA. I'm not big on predictions, but it would not surprise me to see these four at the top of the Class of 2025 rankings yet again at the end of their junior season.
Cade Crum finished 13th as a freshman and improved by ten spots as a sophomore to take third place honors at state.
