Girls 400m Dash Heat 2
Only two freshmen girls finished in the top eight at state for Division I Class AAA in the 400m dash last spring and they were both from Section 2 and they were both featured in this race. Stewarts Creek's Camryn Merryman came off the turn in last and ran down the entire field over the final 60 or so meters to narrowly edge Oakland's Kyla Joy for the heat win 60.12 to 60.33. This was the strongest event for Section 2 last May and with Taylah Upshaw and Brea Vann also returning this season, that likely is not going to change. It may take 58 or faster just to get to Murfreesboro this year. Joy and Merryman return as the #2 and #3 overall 400m runners for the class of 2025.
