At state, Darrah Wiseman of Tellico Plains won the Class A 3200m Run on Tuesday morning. Because of the new separation of Class A and AA, it had not registered that the 3200m for Class A would take place before field events. I had not arrived by the time the race ended. In the evening she won the 800m run as well and I unfortunately missed her for an interview then as well. Fortunately she is a freshman and there will be more opportunities. When I saw her name in the results from this last week, I thought this would be a good opportunity to shed light on these victories and her most recent performance in Charlotte.
Wiseman placed 2nd in her semi-final heat of the 800m with a time of 2:22.19. It was just shy of her previous best of 2:22.03 which won her the state title in May. She took no breaks from track to cross country as she already opened her Cross Country season with a runner up performance at the McMinn County Jamboree on Saturday with a 20:59.
