Keegan Smith, Rising Star
Keegan Smith, 8th Grader out of Knoxville, has a resume that would rival most high schoolers. So far this season he broke the Adidas Nationals Indoor National Record in the Middle School Mile, run a 4:25 1600m Outdoor, and a 2:03 800m outdoor. He's 14 years old.
I initially scheduled this interview as we ramp up our coverage leading into Middle School state but unfortunately Keegan won't be competing. Knoxville Catholic Middle Schools has a multi-campus system that competes under one umbrella team which is in violation of TMSAA policy. Nevertheless, whether he's there or not, as it it pertains to middle schoolers in the state of Tennessee, he's one you need to know about so I'm glad I could get him on camera prior to that event.
