Kiyontae Warren had a fantastic senior season.
The recent Austin-East grad was one of the many East Tennessee hurdlers who tore it up this past season. His 37.43 300mH career-best ranks him No. 2 in the state and No. 39 nationally.
He was tough to beat.
Now, Kiyontae is ready for his next chapter. He's our first senior we're saluting this summer.

What was your most memorable race/competition?
My most memorable race was at the small school TSSAA state track meet. Running the 4x100 against Pearl Cohn, which also happens to be my biggest competition along with racing Brevin Sims from CSAS.
If you could do it all over again, what would you change about your athletic career in high school?
If I could do it all over again I would've started training earlier and not played football.

What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?
My biggest obstacle was learning to be more dynamic over the hurdle, and learning to bring my trail leg down alone with running off the hurdle. "Attacking" as my coach says.

What will you miss the most?

I will miss the track and field program at Austin East, the runners, and most of all my coach Sam Anderson, Anthony Anderson, and Coach Couch!!!
Do you have any advice for younger athletes?

For my fellow athletes coming up, stay focused. If you work hard enough you will get the shine you want. Also don't limit yourself to what you ran in middle school. High school is not the same.
How have your coaches influenced your performances and your life goals overall?
My coach has influenced me to continue to run track and to follow my dream overall.
What are your post-high school plans? Any shoutouts?
With that being said I've committed to Tennessee State University for track and plan on majoring in agriculture! I'd like to give a shout out the upcoming sophomores at Austin-East for helping me have a terrific senior season!
