TN Milesplit Ten: October Boys Team Rankings

There's just one month until the 2018 State Championship in Nashville, Tennessee.

And the team races in each division are starting to take shape. Moving forward at the start of every month, we'll subjectively pick the top ten teams in the state based on rankings and results. Boys are today, girls are tomorrow.

Here is the Tennessee Milesplit Ten for October.

1. Brentwood Academy

The Eagles won the Wingfoot Classic in Georgia with an impressive one-through-five spread. Four runners are below 16:40, and seniors Matthew McMillan, Matthew Porter and George Payne are one of the best 1-2-3 punches in the region.

2. Siegel High School

Siegel has run well across the country, including in California at the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic. That race was only a three-mile, so it's hard to gauge just how well Siegel ran in that competition. But they are the defending champs. And Canaan Anderson is a dangerous front runner.

3. Bartlett High School

Robert Dawson and Landen McNair are a strong 1-2 punch for the Panthers. Dawson ran well at the Horton Classic last week, breaking 16:30 for the first time with a 16:28. McNair made a big breakthrough as well, running sub-17 for the first time.

4. Franklin High School

The Rebels have burst onto the scene with an impressive group this fall. Max Zani leads the way with a 16:02 personal best. That's the tenth-best time in Tennessee this season. Franklin will be in the mix with Siegel for a state championship in November thanks to its 16:54 average.

5. Montgomery Bell Academy

The Big Red are No. 7 according to the numbers, but they got a big head-to-head win over the weekend. MBA travelled to McCallie and won against some strong competition in Chattanooga. Freshman Hall Griffith is one of the best underclassmen in the state, running 17:10 this season.

6. McCallie School

7. Collierville High School

8. Christian Brothers High School

9. Daniel Boone High School

10. Independence High School
