It's almost here.
Cross country is right around the corner, which means it's time to once again look at some of the top teams in the state this fall.
Our next division is Division I Large Schools. And we'll start with some of the best teams on the girls side.
Sasha Neglia will make Dobyns Bennett a major contender this season. The rising junior and Nike Southeast defending champion has won two state titles in this league. Her team is awfully deep as well. DB returns an average time of 19:23 in its top five. They've also got a tight group in the mid-19 minute range coming back from last year in Morgan Cordell and Emma Russum.
Landri Wilcox was one of the top freshmen in the area last season. And she's projected as the second-fastest finisher at the state championship come November. Skylar Boogerd, who comes in to this season as the fourth-fastest runner in the division, will play a big role in the team competition. Arlington High School comes in at number five in our inaugural rankings.
