Pennsylvania's Best Goes South: A Look At The PA Athletes Competing At The Va Showcase

Josh Hoey & The Bishop Shanahan DMR

The Shanahan boys shocked the nation when it dropped a US#1 7:49.37 in the 4x800 meter relay to open up its season at the Armory back in mid-December. Now the Eagles will try out the distance medley relay, an event where it should have similar success.

With a probable lineup of Jonah Hoey (1200 meter leg), Rick Zink (400 meter leg), Logan Yoquinto (800 meter leg), and Josh Hoey (1600 meter leg), Shanahan will face off with fellow national powerhouses Loudoun Valley (VA) and Brentwood (TN). Loudoun Valley are the XC national champs from this past fall and its DMR squad will surely include former Carlisle star Sam Affolder. Brentwood will likely be anchored by Brodey Hasty, the NXN runner-up and 4:01 outdoor miler.

Needless to say, this is one of the premiere must-watch events of the weekend, set for 5 P.M. on Friday

Josh Hoey will also compete in the invitational 1,000 meters on Saturday. Also in that field is York, Pa. resident Dalton Hengst of McDonogh School (MD)
