3/30/16 -- Johnson City, TN -- The third annual Tri-Cities Track Classic presented by Knoxville Youth Athletics brings the finest athletes from around the Southeast to Science Hill HS and their top class facility. Competition begins Friday and concludes Saturday with over 45 teams and 1000 athletes. Many of the state's top athletes are entered including Hunter Miniard (Sevier Co HS) and Derek Flatford (Anderson Co) who lead the state in the 300 meter hurdles and 110 meter hurdles respectively. They will face off in the 300 meter hurdles where they are TN #1 and #2 as well as US Top 50. Bryce Barrett (Dobyns-Bennett) leads the state in the 400m already with a time of 49.25. He also captains the state's top 4X400 who will compete to close out the competition Saturday. Cole Patterson (Halls) is currently the US #17 Shot Putter and is the best Discus Thrower in the state. Niamh Schumacher (The Kings Academy) comes in as the top 3200m runner in the state and will be featured on the girl's side. Camryn Bowman (Signal Mountain) is the state's top thrower coming into the season and will compete in the Shot Put and Discus. There are a ton of out of state schools coming from Virginia, Alabama, North Carolina among others. Contender for athlete of the meet is Noah Igbinoghene (Hewitt-Trussville, AL) who is the current US #5 Triple Jumper and High School Indoor National Champion. He is also US #12 in the Long Jump. His Triple Jump mark of 49'3" means he is clearing over 16 yards in 3 bounds. Just a junior he is also a prized football recruit.
