Sitienei and Houghton Conquer 65 Roses 5k

 

Cleveland, TN – Joseph Sitienei, 33, won the 65 Roses 5k Road Race held at Lee University on Saturday April 12, 2008. Sitienei covered the 3.1 mile course in 15:29, averaging a 4:59 per mile pace. Anne Houghton, 19, was the female champion, with a time of 19:39 (6:20 per mile pace).

 

The perfect spring morning was enjoyed by a record number of 409 runners hitting the streets of historic downtown Cleveland.  This, the 6th annual running of the 65 Roses, was run in conjunction with a 1-kilometer fun run and the Great Strides walk.  All three events benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Over the last eight years these events have raised nearly $300,000 for cystic fibrosis research.

 

The race was a Chattanooga Track Club event. Event sponsors include Ralph Buckner Funeral Home & Crematory, ScotCarter Productions, TriCon Inc, Garden Plaza of Cleveland, First Tennessee, Ed Jacobs, Bank of Cleveland, Mix 104.1, the Cleveland Daily Banner, Schering-Plough, BlueCross BlueShield, and Sports Barn.
