Indian Path Medical Center & SunTrust Bank Crazy 8s 8K Run
Crazy 8s & Reebok Announce Partnership

The World's Fastest 8k just got a new pair of shoes. Race officials from
the Indian Path Medical Center & SunTrust Bank Crazy 8s 8k Run announced
today that they have joined forces with Reebok as the Official Outfitter
of Crazy 8s. Race date for the 2008 race is July 12 in Kingsport, TN.
"This is a big step for us," said Crazy 8s co-event director Hank Brown.
"Reebok is a world-class company, and we're honored that they want to be
a part of what we have going here in Kingsport."
Crazy 8s joins a prestigious group of running and track & field events
partnering with Reebok; including the Reebok Boston Indoor Games, the
Reebok Grand Prix, the Peachtree Road Race, the ING Bay to Breakers 12K,
the Chicago Distance Classic, and the Papa John's 10-Miler.
"This is a great opportunity for us to be partnered with such a great
event, and we are looking forward to this year's race." said Todd Klein,
Reebok's Director of Global Sports Marketing for Running and
Federations.
Reebok's United Kingdom ancestor company goes back as far as the 1890's
when Joseph William Foster made some of the first running shoes with
spikes. The family-owned business proudly made the running shoes worn
in the 1924 Summer Games by the athletes celebrated in the film
"Chariots of Fire." In 1958, two of the founder's grandsons started a
companion company that came to be known as Reebok, named for an African
gazelle.
"We want everyone to enjoy their race, and enjoy the training," said
Tyler Hobbs co-race director. "We are working hard to promote the sport
of running in the community by going into the schools, starting running
programs, and helping with field days. In the end, we want to create
more runners. Reebok wants to help with these kinds of programs and
help us achieve that goal."
According to Brown, Reebok will work closely with Foot Rx, a local
running specialty store in Johnson City. "We'll see a large Reebok and
Foot Rx presence at the Healthy Lifestyles Expo. There will be plenty
of Reebok shoes and apparel, I guarantee it."
