In a race tainted by the death of Dalton, GA nineteen year-old John Bruner, Chattanooga native Patrick Hall walked away with his first hometown road race victory in a time of 25:16 for the 4.7 mile course.
Hall, 22, raced for Covenant College and Chattanooga Christian School. He also won the Fall Creek Thaw 15k earlier this year.
Other Chattanooga area roadsters in the race included Tennessee Running Magazine's 2006 Masters Runner of the Year Tim Ensign, who finished second to Hall in 26:03, and Bryan College coach Rodney Stoker.
"It was like running in soup," Hall said of the heat and humidity on Saturday. The humidity caused Stoker to drop out of the race midway through. "I left Tim and caught Stoker about halfway through, then when Tim caught him he dropped. Too bad - he seems to be in pretty good shape."
Hall, despite the heat, set personal records for three miles, four miles, and the course.
Red Bank High School coach Hugh Enicks finished in third place with a 27:16.
Jan Gautier walked away with the women's division title in 30:42, her tenth Missionary Ridge Victory and her seventh in nine years.
