Kenyan standout to run for Milligan College


 

May 13, 2007 --- Milligan College head coach Chris Layne announced this week Benjamin Kimutai Rono (Rift Valley Adventist) will join the Buffs cross country/track and field program as the fifth signee for the 07-08 season.

 

Rono has personal best times of 13:50.54 for 5000 meters and 28:54.59 for 10000 meters. The son of Joel and Sarah Kowogen, he earned MVP honors on the track his last two high school seasons at Rift Valley Adventist. "Benjamin is competitive both academically and athletically, and he'll certainly strengthen our presence up front," said Layne.

 

Rono, and the current 07-08 distance recruiting class of Michael Kaal (Gilbert, Az.), Nathan Wooden (Kingsport, Tenn.), Nathan Bordelon (Osceola, Fla.), and Andrew Gouge (Elizabethon, Tenn.) will join men's returnees Will Frye (Johnson City, Tenn.), a 2006 national qualifier in cross country, and AAC all-freshman standout Aaron Wood (Aurora, Colo.).
