With the rain gone and cooler temperatures present, the sponsers announced shortly before the start of the mile that a $700 bonus would be presented to the first sub 4 minute finisher, with $500 being presented by the mile sponser, Foot Rx and $200 being presented by the track meet sponser, Med-Fit. The stakes were set at the 2nd annual Foot Rx Crazy Mile in Kingsport, TN. The runners took off in a tightly bunched pack awaiting a final lap sprint. It was Nicholas Kurgat of Kenya who had the final gear to push clear ahead of the field with 200m remaining. The finish line was blur of runners from 3rd to 9th, all finishing within 2 seconds of each other. The money for a sub 4 remains safe, yet another year.
