Helton wins middle school mile state championship

Page Middle School’s Jon Helton used a strong finish to claim the Middle School Mile State Championship Saturday at Centennial High School in Franklin. Helton clocked a 4:47.2 to win the 1600 race. Grassland Middle’s Nate Mihnovich led most of the race and finished second in 4:49.8. “I was hoping to try and run even splits the whole way,” said Helton. “It didn’t quite work out that way, but it’s still OK. I still won.”
