Freshman Kathy Kroeger of Independence H.S. in Franklin placed 16th out of the top 40 Cross-Country runners in the nation with a time of 17:57.
Kathy Kroeger -
"I tried not to start too fast, because I get tired quickly, and it was a really hot day, and a lot hotter than it's been in Tennessee. So I stayed toward the middle of the pack and tried to finish as best I could. I was pretty happy with it. Actually the start wasn't as fast as I expected it to be."
Kathy Kroeger -"It was amazing competition. I have never raced against people this fast before. And I am going to work harder next year and try to do better if I can qualify again."
Kathy Kroeger -"This was kind of a lark. My training was geared for states, and then I decided it would be cool to do the regional, and then I qualified. This was kind of an after-the-season thing. I wanted to do my best, but I wasn't too worried about it."
Rob Sorrell of Bolton H.S. ran a 15:53 finishing 30 overall. Rob was followed closely by fellow tennessean Clay Hannah of Lebanon H.S. Lebanon. Clay placed 32 with a time of 16:04.
