Sullivan South’s Patten commits to Milligan

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 23, 2010) --- Sullivan South standout Mackenzie Patten has committed to run for the nationally ranked Milligan College Lady Buffs cross country team. Head Coach Chris Layne made the announcement.

Patten finished 54th at the 2009 AAA Tennessee State Cross Country Championships with a time of 21:39, after finishing 8th at the Region 1 Cross Country Championships in a personal best 21:38. Patten also finished 9th at last year’s Big 8 Conference Championship. She also owns a personal best time of 21:17 for 3 miles.

“Mackenzie has excelled on and off the field of play, and I think she’s just the type of student-athlete we need to keep our tradition of success at the national level alive,” Layne said. “I’m confident she’ll surprise a few folks in the years to come.”

Patten, who will hold her signing at Sullivan South on Friday at 3 p.m., will join a women’s distance program that has turned out seven straight AAC conference titles to go with a string of national championship top 25 finishes.

Mackenzie is the daughter of Wesley and Traci Patten. She plans to study Bible and Biology at Milligan.
