Who Has The Longest Winning Streaks In Tennessee XC History?

Everything to help prepare you for the upcoming 2024 cross country season from rankings to predictions to runners to watch!

Boys Individual

Every state championship last season was won by a senior so no streak is on the line entering this season but there still are defending state champions returning this fall. Knoxville Catholic's Keegan Smith and Cleveland's Owen Clemons both won state titles in 2021 and 2022 respectively and have an opportunity to return to the top of the podium in their respective divisions.

Boys Team

If McCallie wins this fall, they will claim the record for most state championships in a row by any boys program in Tennessee history. That is easier said than done in Division II Class AA. They are projected to get second in our preseason rankings with teams clamoring to dethrone them.  Last season they won by just eight points over MBA, they lost four seniors but return three scorers including North Carolina Commit Jack Bowen who placed runner up individually two years in a row. MBA will return with a similar loss of contributors along with Christian Brothers and Knoxville Catholic. All this is to say, if they keep the streak alive, I won't be surprised but if they don't, I also won't be surprised.

Farragut also enters the season on a two year win streak. In the modern Division I - AAA Era two teams have three in a row and that was Oak Ridge from 2005 to 2007 and Siegel from 2017 - 2019. Farragut could join them at three if the upcoming middle school talent 1) actually attends Farragut for high school and 2) can backfill the loss to graduation with serviceable depth. Before there were divisions, Oak Ridge and Clarksville won three in a row from with Oak Ridge from 1983 through 1985 and Clarksville from 1964 to 1966.
