Not Much Has Changed

Four of the five division leaders this year were also the division leaders last year with Chase Cavitch leapfrogging ahead of Joshua Cross who now sits in second in Division II Class A. Furthermore, three of the four Divisions are also led by these runners from the Class of 2024. The last time a senior class of boys swept the individual titles at the state meet was in 2019 but if this class is going to do so they'll have their hands full. Miles Ramer won the AAA title as a sophomore but had a season ending injury shortly after his 14:49 at Southern Showcase last year. In his absence, freshman Owen Clemons was able to become just the second frosh to ever win the largest Division I classification in state history. It'll be an interesting dynamic this season with two returning champions racing in the same division. Joshua Pote may have finished 6th last year in AA/A but every runner ahead of him graduated. Luke Thompson is actually "ranked" two in DII-AA in the overall but is the defending champion. This is another division where he and Keegan Smith, who both have titles, will return to try to add a second to their resume. In Division II Class A, Cavitch has the top returning time, Cross is the top returner from state when it comes to place, if the class of 2024 wants to sweep the individual titles, they have the runners in place to do it this year. 

Luke Thompson placed runner up as a freshman and sophomore before winning his first cross country state title as a junior.
