Obviously the elephant in the room is the fact that the defending state champion Miles Ramer of Ravenwood will not be racing next week. He suffered a stress fracture shortly after Southern Showcase and we wish him a speedy recovery. That said, the quality and intrigue of this competition is still at an all time high. After Ramer won last year as the 7th ranked runner heading in, it's hard to run anyone out. Dobyns-Bennett Junior Luke Mussard's only loss to an in state opponent was to Ramer at the Southern Showcase where all other runners in the top five were racing as well, Freshman Owen Clemons has the fastest time on Sanders Ferry with a 15:01 as his second 5k of the day, Brody Chapman has the most experience on the course and has a head to head win over Clemons at Jesse Owens, and though Trevor Coggin and Callahan Fielder have yet to beat the three seeded ahead of them, the margins are not that much. I expect these five to be packed together for at least the first loop of Sanders Ferry.
Trevor Coggin (Left), Luke Mussard (Maroon), Brody Chapman (Brentwood), and Owen Clemons (Right) all raced at the Southern Showcase where the finishing order was Mussard, Clemons, Chapman, then Coggin.

Since 2010, only four team have won the AAA/Large Division I Team Title:
- Hardin Valley: 2021, 2020, 2010
- Siegel: 2019, 2018, 2017
- Brentwood: 2016, 2015, 2013, 2012, 2011
- Daniel Boone: 2014
There really hasn't been a lot of variety and last year there wasn't very much drama. There really wasn't a question of who would win but rather how much Hardin Valley would win by. This year, the head to head match up between Brentwood and Farragut may be even closer than the Signal/Central competition from the day prior. Farragut beat Brentwood head to head at the Southern Showcase but since, Brentwood has won high profile meets like Wingfoot Classic and Jesse Owens. They've both run at Sanders Ferry Park so here's a side by side comparison of how the teams match up.

Good luck trying to count finishers.
Behind them is a collective of Beech, Daniel Boone, Franklin, Green Hill, and Dobyns-Bennett. While I don't think any have the fire power to sneak into second, I think there is a lot of opportunity for fluctuation between them for third.
