Knoxville Track Club Youth Athletics announces dates for its two major track and field meets in 2010

The KTC High School Indoor Track Classic will take place January 22-23, 2010 and will be held on the David E. Walker indoor track on the campus of East Tennessee State University.  The indoor meet is held in conjunction with the Niswonger College Invitational and is now in its third year at its new home since moving from Stokely Athletics Center.  The 283 meter un banked surface has lead to some very fast early indoor season times according to meet director Marty Sonnenfeldt.  "Many of the times run at the KTC Indoor Meet continue to hold down spots in the top 20 national high school indoor times the entire season, says Sonnenfeldt.  Look for some of the best high school track and field athletes in the south to come for fast times.  For meet information and online entry go to:

In the spring the Knoxville Track Club will host its oldest event the 47th Volunteer Track Classic.  VTC, as it is known around the track and field world, will take place April 16-17, 2010.  A southern track and field tradition, VTC drew over 1700 from 20 different states in 2009.  The 2010 VTC will run on The University of Tennessee's Tom Black the site of the 2010 SEC Track and Field Championships.  "With the SEC's coming to town Tom Black track will get a significant redo" commented meet director Marty Sonnenfeldt.  I am sure the high school athletes will love what they see added Sonnenfeldt.  2009 saw the successful addition of a college division to the Volunteer Track Classic a part of the meet that will continue and expand in 2010.  The 2009 meet was also selected as one of the NSSF's select meets for 2009.  The VTC provides all with a great competitive atmosphere and venue - the net result equals fast times and great marks.  For meet information and online entry please visit:
