The midstate middle school cross country regions are now history and the results were as surprising as the weather in which they were run. The young athletes showed their competitive spirit as they battled a cool drizzle in low 40 degree weather to earn the right compete with the best of rest from the great Volunteer State in Knoxville on Saturday October 24, 2009. Long removed was the need for cold towels and water at the finish line replaced with calls for sweatshirts and pants and probably hot chocolate if it could be found.
The midstate has a tradition of producing tough competitors and in 2007 and 2008 has produced the individual champion of the boys race. The five qualifying teams were Brentwood Middle Running /club, Siegel Middle School, Sovereign Grace, McFadden and St. Rose.
