The two-time defending state champion in Division One Small Schools is our 2020 Runner of the Year.

Alyssa Andrea defended her title in November.

And now she's being recognized as her division's stop cross country runner in the 2020 season.

The Fairview High School sophomore set a new personal-best down in Alabama midway through the season. Her 19:19.45 on October 3 at Jesse Owens was the fastest time in the league for an underclassman girl all season.

Andrea burst onto the scene in the fall of 2019 as a freshman. She brought home four individual wins, her first region title and her first individual state championship.

And she continued that momentum in 2020.

Andrea won three out of the four races she ran, completing an undefeated season in the state of Tennessee with her 20:04.62 state championship run.

Congrats to all of the other girls who were considered.

Signal Mountain High School's Kelsey Thompson won our fan vote, and deserves recognition as well for a remarkable season.

Thompson had five top-ten finishes in the state of Tennessee last fall. She was also the runner-up behind Andrea at state, clocking in with a 20:14.71.

Congratulations to all of our finalists, and our 2020 Girls Div. 1 Small Schools XC Runner of the Year - Alyssa Andrea!
